This was a very interesting day! After many e-mails sent to the agency from which I rented my room talking about all sort of problems in the apartment (well the last e-mail I sent was not a nice one) they came and fixed almost everything!!!
The broken pipe was fixed...
... the kitchen has now a new floor...
... as well as a new tap.
Besides these good things had happened, at the afternoon it was the first time I went to the Library of TUDelft!!! I think it is a very good one... just see the photos and decide for yourselves.
At night me and Pavel decided to put a new table on the kitchen... but for that some work have to be done...
... got the raw materials from the garbage...
... and after some hard work...
... decided to have dinner.
Then we had to put the table on the kitchen and...
... voilà! The new table was ready!
Decided to see the Portuguese news and was confronted with some situations that put me laughing for quite a long time.
1st
There was a police intervention in a place in Portugal where there are some illegal car racings and the reporter was interviewing a guy and said:
- Do you know that this is illegal, right?
To which the guy said:
- For the Police is illegal, for us is LEGAL!!!
And did not say another word... LOL!
2nd
Then a reporter said about some problems within the European Union and the G8:
- ... and this European countries from Europe are very concerned!
Stupid... LOL!
From Sunday to Wednesday, 5th-8th OctoberThis was the normal sight from my room.
Assignments!!! Yes I am studying too!
Tuesday, 7th OctoberIt was on of the best days in my week! I am taking a course that is concerned about Medical Devices, so, we went to the VU University Medical Centre in Amsterdam for a different day of lectures and to see how technicians used some devices in their normal routine.
It would be a perfect day if some problems haven't occurred! So me and Diogo went to the Train Station to go to Amsterdam, where the train that we've decided to catch with some other guys was at 11.24. Because of having to cash out money and buy tickets we missed the train! Stupid 2 seconds! We were pissed off, but after like 10 minutes there was other train.
The real problem then was that we didn't now how to go to the Medical Centre, or even where it was!!! So we arrived at Amsterdam Central Station and had to call to some guys back at Delft (yes we didn't have any contact from the ones going to the Medical Centre) to give us the address! Then we had to catch the subway to there.

After some time we were at the VU Medical Centre...
... but we were like 40 minutes late for the first lecture. Arrived at 13.40 at the classroom!
It was not a real problem, this because we had more 2 lectures and various tours on the Centre.
Saw some real devices working in various areas, from which the ones that were more interesting were the
Magnetoencephalography (MEG) and the
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).
I was one of the volunteers to do a MEG so I was looked in a small room:
I was not the one making a MRI but it was great to see it working:
During the visits it was given to everybody a dinner. It was a surprise to me... and my teacher gave to taste a traditional drink in the Netherlands, the
KarneMelk. It is a type of milk from which all the fat is taken away and then it is leaved to rest... in the end it is a sour drink and it reminded me Natural Yoghurt! So I really liked!
Friday, 10th OctoberAnother visit! Now to the Medish Centrum Haaglanden in Den Haag! This time we were in time to the train, and this visit was about Sleep Research.
So we've seen patients using some medical devices and we saw some in work.
(Blood Pressure and Oxygenation reader)
(Sensors to use in the Sleeping Records)
Afterwards we went back home.
Already in Delft we saw a family in bicicles that was quite an interesting sight.
Saturday, 11th OctoberA day marked by a Luso-Brazilian Party!!! The so called "OctoBirthFest" Party!
We had tons of "Feijoada" to eat, a traditional Brazilian dish!
After eating we drank "Porradinha" (little kick ass) ! I didn't knew it!
Put vodka...
... some sprite...
... shake in your leg (that's why it is called "Porradinha")...
... and drink right away as a shot!
After it the party was really great... talking and dancing "samba"! Here are some photos from the party.
Now I'm going to work so... see ya next time!
OH... the best thing I learned in this week was:
"One day not slept is one day not lived."And the best thing that happened was that my girlfriend will came here in the weekend of my birthday!!! I'm sooooooooooo happy!!! :B
